please help me choose the best car from the cars i listed above.

Hi, I’m turning senior year for college this September, and I decided to buy a car. My budget is 10K (excluding maintenance fee), but because I’m only going to drive it for 10 months and then will sell the car (i’m an international student, so i will sell the car after i graduate), i thought why not buy the best bang for the buck car under 10K. Because I have a baseball practice every weekend and will need to pick up members, i need a mid-size sedan with a reasonable amount of trunk space.

Because I’m going to drive less than 10K, I decided not to worry about the mileage that much. So I looked at various used car websites and came across these cars:

2005 Audi A6 3.2 quattro with 100200 miles for $10,000
2004 Infiniti G35x with 110800 miles for $9,500
2007 Lincoln MKZ with 92850 miles for $9,990
2003 Jaguar S-type R with 94000 miles for $9,300
2006 Chrysler 300C with 96000 miles for $10,000

Cars are all stock - no modifications
All cars have been serviced regularly - which means regular oil changes, regular dealer maintenance and those stuff
They all have clean title, but G35x and S-type R had an accident before

These cars all look fabulous for me, but I did some online research and found out some pros and cons for all these vehicles.

I know that Jaguar has low reliability but I’m really attracted to that V8.
Chrysler has low reliability too but I want to experience that HEMI engine before i go back to my home country
G35x is an all-round car but the styling is too normal
A6 looks awesome and has really nice high-tech toys but i heard its unreliable after 100,000miles
Lincoln MKZ’s V6 3.0 engine is underpowered compared to other cars that I’m thinking.

in terms of reliability, i know that infiniti is the best, but i cant decide.
I have a part-time job so i don’t care about the fuel economy or small maintenance fees - i will cover that with my money and love.
I just want to know if I can choose one of these and I will be safe for another 10000miles without any major breakdowns.
I’m planning 2 long distance trips also - from Indianapolis to Boston and from Indianapolis to Atlanta.
So I don’t want my car to break down in the middle of highway and end up having to pay alot of money for repairs.

So, please help me decide - which car in your opinion, is the best?
Which car do you think will go safe for another 10000 miles without major repairs?

Currently the car that I’m interested the most is Jaguar S-type R, but what do you guys think??

Oh, and please don’t say stuff like - just buy a toyota camry or chevy covalt or sth like that- this is my only opportunity to spend 10K on mid-size luxury sedan and I don’t want to miss this chance.

Open Question: Gym vs sports club - which would you say is better value for money?

What would you all say is best value for money - local council run gym or sports club? I know sports clubs offer more in terms of facilities/luxuries but are they worth the extra monthly payment?! I currently am a member of a local council run gym and there’s nothing wrong with it per se but the equipment is a bit ropey and the gym is rather small and basic. They do offer classes included in the membership and there is a pool but I’ve just been to see a local sports club today and am very tempted but the membership is twice the price and it’s a little further from home (but near to work). Decisions decisions ……. HELP!!!

I have a problem with keeping my room clean. I’m a 17 year old girl and it’s very very embarassing for me but I just can’t seem to keep my room clean. I’ve tried alot of things - using hangers instead of drawers, making the amount of stuff I have smaller, etc etc.

I wake up every morning at 5:30 for school and to me cleaning my room is a luxury that you do when you have the time and is not exhausted. Whenever I come home from school with the mindset to clean, I end up thinking to myself “I could be studying or catching up on my sleep right now.”

Are there any tips to keep my room clean? A way to think more positively about cleaning? I know this sounds really stupid but I just cannot fix it!

Open Question: Is this too much to charge for cleaning luxury homes with all natural cleaners?

I am sophomore in college. I have a younger sister (18yrs) and a younger brother (16yrs). Two years ago, my dad explained to us that the economy has taken a toll on his business and we have to start saving more and spending less. We received money for food only. Any other spending money we had to work for. I just came home from school and my mom told my that my dad has been having an affair with another woman. My dad is 62 and this woman is 38. She has 3 kids and could barely pay her rent before my dad swept her off her feet with money over a year ago. My mom found out about this other woman accidentally on valentines day, when she saw a charge on the family account of $1,000 dollars for the “dream room” in the Marriott hotel. My dad’s phone accidentally dialed my mom that day and she overheard him telling the other woman of how he wants to show her the world and give her everything. I can’t imagine how heartbroken my mother was at that moment. Since then, she found out that my dad has been living with them while he was on his “business trips”, and they have become his other family. He bought the other woman an expensive car, and provided her kids with countless apple gadgets. When I heard this I felt so sick. This was a week ago and I have not recovered. I have been working so hard, only to find out that our financial situation is strained by another family. How could my dad be so selfish? I am not speaking to him anymore. When I told him I knew of the other family, and how selfish he is, he turned the blame on me (calling me selfish and spoiled) and said he wants nothing to do with me. Until the divorce is finalized, he agreed to stay out of the house. My dad was always my best friend and role model before this. Now the person who I looked up to all my life disgusts me. I am a very strong person and have held it together very well. But sometimes a simple phrase like “I don’t care” makes me burst into tears. Any advice or words of encouragement?

I am married and live in a village of Fullerton, in Wiltshire. I have ten children, and our family has a comfortable income, though we are not rich. We have very well off neighbours, Mr and Mrs Allen. Allens decided to go to Bath, and asked my daughter Catherine to accompany them. I agreed, because Allens are very nice people, and I’d love Catherine to see something of the world, and of course, I’m too busy to travel myself, what with my children and husband. Catherine was happy to go. She stayed in Bath for some time with Allens, and then she met a girl there, called Eleanor. That Eleanor asked my Catherine to go and stay with her and her family, and we agreed to let her go. I understood that Eleanor’s family was very rich. But after a while, Eleanor’s father simply threw Catherine out of the house, for no reason, and she came home. I consoled her, and told her to forget these rich people, because our comfort did not depend upon Eleanor’s father. But, Catherine, since then, is not herself. She always was a sad little scatter-brained creature, but now she is much worse. She can’t sit still for even ten minutes, can’t do anything, she just walks around the garden and orchard again and again. She is rather sad and silent, and this morning, at breakfast, she talked so much about some expensive French bread, that she had at her rich friend’s. I think that my daughter is addicted to balls, parties and luxuries now, and dislikes our home for not being grand and rich! What should I do?

I’ll try to make this short…. I can’t live at home any longer or it will seriously take its toll on my mental health. (This is not a sympathy seeking story). Dad died when I was 9 and when I was about 10 or 11 mum got this new bloke…who she’s been physically and verbally fighting with pretty much since. It started because of his drinking, then money, then affairs, etc….My half sister (from my real dad’s previous marriage) and brother don’t really count my mum as family, they don’t live close so we actually haven’t had any contact for about 5 years (apart from facebook or the occasional birthday but my mum is never ever invited, no xmas cards or anything like that). Mum’s an orphan so we have no family on her side, I have no grandparents -so I’ve basically got no other family I can live with. Mum is suicidal and depressed but we are very very poor (she is £40K in debt) and she can’t afford prolonged counselling or medication. I know you’re wondering WHY she’s still with him - I have no idea! Right now they’re screaming at eachother, she tells him to leave but then begs him to stay.
I don’t like the idea of living alone but it is much better for me if I do leave. I have tried helping mum, tewlling her to kick him out, sort herself out…she will not help herself, there is nothing I or anyone can do, it’s down to her, and I can not and will not let this bring me down and ruin my A Levels,and my dreams. It’s given me depression and I have to get out.
As I said, I’m poor myself and can’t get a full time job to save much money whilst I’m studying for exams, so I suppose the option is benefits. I know the waiting list can take years, but my friend got kicked out by his family because they couldn’t accept something he told them and he got housing within a week because he had nowhere else to go.
I was wondering…do I have to tell the council my situation and will my situation help me get housing quicker? Can I ask for a nearby house so I can still go to sixth form and see my boyfriend and friends any everything? Would the council provide me with furniture and stuff?

I’m not rushing into anything. I just don’t see any other choice.

Hmm… Where to start?

I guess ill start September 2007. I just started my junior year in high school and was feeling really optimistic about everything. My grades were not the best but they were definitely above average. My looks were not the best but I had just recently lost all my acne and thanks to two years of J.V. football I had lost all my “baby fat” and was a toned young man with a confident smile. With this extra confidence I started the semester with all As and Bs in my classes; four of which were AP. Since I had many AP classes, I also got to interact with many seniors. One of which I had a crush ever since I could remember. So being the confident young lad that I was, I chatted her up and eventually got with her. She was the most fun-loving, cutest, and smartest girl I’ve ever met. With a steady, cute girlfriend and and great grades I thought that life couldn’t get any better. Turns out I was right.

Fast forward to April 2008. My dad left my mom and my three brothers. He was the primary provider of the household but just decided to up and leave. He abandoned us and since he refused to marry my Mom all those years we couldn’t get a penny from him. That whole saga took it’s toll and my relationship. The most minor inconveniences would get me angry and I would take it out on my gf. She was willingly supporting me and I took her for granted and got mad at her for everything. Two months later she broke up with me.

Looking back I don’t blame her. She was a smart, beautiful girl who just graduated and was going to a great university. She didn’t want my constant anger bring her down while her whole life was ahead of her.

So after a miserable summer I started my senior year badly. My grades didn’t suffer too much but my social life became abysmal. I couldn’t get over my ex and my father leaving and they were both having such a bad psychological effect on me. I lost all my confidence. I stopped participating in class, stopped going out with friends, became much more timid, and shunned any and all advances from girls seeking a relationship. The only thing that kept my sanity during this rough time was a close knit of friends that supported me. My two best friends that helping me out through this ordeal.

So senior year passed and I graduated. September 2009. I began college thinking that it was a new slate. I kept telling myself that whatever happened in the past wasn’t going to bring me down. That college was going to be my rebirth. I started out strongly. I made lots of new friends and had a great GPA for my first semester. I got over my ex but I was still a little timid and antisocial. However I was starting to get my mojo back. When I came back for my next semester though, I screwed up. I started hanging out with the wrong people. I would be getting drunk everyday with people who I thought were friends and started having a party lifestyle. I was deluded thinking that drinking and having fun would get me to be more social.

I started missing class and assignments. I missed all my finals. I got Fs for all my classes. I lost my financial aid and couldn’t go back to school. I became an alcoholic.

When I told my mother that I had lost my financial aid, she cried like never before. I then realized that all her life she worked her butt off to take care of me. She sacrificed her personal ambitions to make sure my brothers and I lived a good life even though we were straddling the poverty line. And for what? To see her son become a total failure?

Now after everything that’s happened i’m a recovering alcoholic and i’m only 21 years old. I know that iIm a weak person and I only have myself to blame but :How do i get my life back on track?
