So I live in Honolulu, HI and I have never been to mainland america before. I go to college and a lot of students from other states come here because its a nice place to live, however a lot of them tell me that life is much harder here because the cost of living is high. A class mate of mine from Sacramento, CA told me that He was from a family of an upper middle class economy but when he moved here he became below middle class economy. He told me Oregon and Washington is much cheaper than California because everyone wants to live in California and therefore its expensive. I thought Seattle is a pretty expensive place especially the Bellevue area but is Bellevue much cheaper compared to the upscale neighborhoods of Hawaii such as Kahala or Hawaii Kai? My current home is considered a luxury standard, 4 bedroom, 3 baths, 5,000 sqft 2 story house built in 1995 thats located in the boudries of the upscale neighborhood Kahala. It currenty zestimates at $1,200,000. My class mate said you feel feel your money last longer in the mainland compared to Hawaii but I know this is only partially true because Manhattan and San Francisco is more expensive than Hawaii.
