Resolved Question: How do you know when to walk away for good?

I broke up with my fiance last September after five years of being together. We have a 4 yr old son. There were many reasons why we broke up, including him not being much of a good father to our son. He chose to sit on the couch all the time instead of going outside to play ball with our son. His laziness eventually took a toll on me.
I know our breakup has affected our son, who asks me why daddy has his own place now, etc.
Since our breakup, he has tried many times to get back together, and I would always refuse. And when I would date, he would come around or call constantly and pretty much ruin any chance I had with the new guy.
My son attends preschool and sees his peers having brothers and sisters, and always asks for a brother or sister himself. I’ve found myself thinking about possibly taking my ex back and trying to resolve our issues, but am not sure if it’s a good idea. I know I need to think of what is in the best interest of my son, but I’m confused..Take him back or move on? Help please! And no need to sugarcoat anything! Thanks in advance!
