Every since the day I was born my mom always wanted me to become a great doctor. Doctors make a great amount of money and they are considered heroes to our communities because they save many lives. Everyone in my family wanted me to become a doctor and agreed that I have the qualities of becoming a great doctor. I also decided that being a doctor was suitable for me because It would be befitting to become rich.

As I entered high school I already had my mind set that I was going to become a doctor. I allowed myself into thinking about the luxury of becoming a doctor having a great cars, a big home, and a big family just like my mother always dreamed of me to have. As time progressed I started to change my mind about my future plans and about my career. I started to second guess myself and about my future. Do I really want to become a doctor to satisfy my mother or myself?

I started to believe that being a doctor wasn’t for me, until the day that I talked to someone who worked in the medical field. My aunt is a pediatrician and she loves what she does because she gets to help other and save lives. She told me that when she as younger she was also confused about her career until she volunteer in a hospital; she experienced what is like to be a doctor. She felt good about herself because she was able to help others and be a part of the community.
Speaking to my aunt made me feel relief because she was also confused about her career until she was given the opportunity to practice what is like to be a doctor.

Like all the other tenth graders that year, I had to take basic biology classes-and like most, I prepared to hate it. As I started learning about the human body I became fascinated and more interested in learning more. I realized that the torture had actually been fun. Although I complained at first within the four weeks I enjoyed the class and was able to get good grades. M. Barbosa offered me to take the Regents for that class because I qualified due to my good grades and my interest. The problem was that I wasn’t prepared enough for it because I was only taking basic classes; I didn’t let that interfere. I started staying after school every Tuesday to prepare myself for the test. Fortunately I passed the test; I was pleased because that goes to show that I could accomplish everything if I put my all into it.

Taking Biology proved to me that maybe becoming a doctor is not a bad idea after all because I’m interested in science. I also like helping other and serving others. At the moment I am still in doubt of becoming a doctor, I’m planning to decide my career choice when I’m in college.
